From Detroit I watch the surreal news of my country as it lurches towards the election and I literally don’t know where we go from here. How is the failure of institutions to be repaired – or can it? And if it cannot, were do we, as a nation, go – forward, together – or otherwise? I suspect this musing will be a recurring theme in these pages.
